Job Description

Our client near the Galleria area has an immediate opening for a Senior Associate which helps entrepreneurs in every stage of their business. From new business needs such as entity selection, to ongoing financial support similar to that of an outsourced controller.

Our client has been helping entrepreneurs so they can operate their businesses more profitably for more than 10 years. Common business issues, such as maximizing cash flow and accurately reporting financials, are just two of the everyday challenges which our client addresses as they work one-on-one with valued clients. Understanding change is a natural part of our business climate, so we work to develop processes that anticipate these changes. Our clients goal is to minimize an organization's business disruption by proactively working with owners to plan ahead.   Annual Salary could range between $60K and $80K depending on your past work experience.         
Skills, Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience and actively working toward passing the CPA Exam or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Public accounting or other professional services experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and review and compilations standards. Familiarity with attest procedures and the ability to distinguish between material and immaterial items.
  • Ability to act as outsourced Controller for clients, handling more complex tasks and projects within discipline/function.
  • Ability to effectively use Quickbooks and/or Peachtree and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to complete work in an efficient and accurate manner. The volume of work during busy seasons is typically higher than at other times of the year.
  • Must maintain required CPE credits annually.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to apply understanding to carry out and to give instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Reviews work of less experienced staff and shares knowledge to develop staff technical skills.
  • Recognizes complex technical issues, evaluates facts efficiently, and uses strategic decision-making skills to assist management in solving problems.
  • Follows regulations and professional ethics of state bodies appropriate to discipline, including AICPA.
  • Assists management in planning and managing engagement activity and follows through to achieve results.
  • Recognizes needs and issues pertinent to client activity and demonstrates ownership of engagement’s day-to-day tasks and activities.
  • Provides accounting training for clients including accounting software, account reconciliation, and general bookkeeping. May write procedures.
  • Builds client relationships and maintains smooth working relationship.
  • Keeps current on all professional pronouncements and educates lower level staff on application of technical knowledge.
  • Is proactive in seeking opportunities to achieve target chargeability (determined by Practice Leaders).
  • Understands that time may be spent in both the Firm’s offices and/or the client’s premises. Additionally, client service activity may not always be predictable, and may be subject to immediate change or on-call requests with very short notice.
